When is it going to stop raining! I feel that its never going to stop and that the gales are bringing more branches and twigs down from all my trees. Each time I go into the woodland there are lots more to clear away to a corner where the local wildlife can feel nice and cosy. In spite of the wind and rain, plants are carrying on as usual and more new flowers appear each week.

Galanthus Trumps is still marching across my border, I think a mole is moving the bulbs! Wish it had a different name as it is a lovely snowdrop!

It was actually a sunny day yesterday so I was able to nip out for a little while and take some photos for today’s post. The birds were actually singing and the squirrels chasing each other round the tree trunks, so spring is definitely in the air! Snowdrops are coming on nicely plus other winter beauties, but I still haven’t managed to tidy the woodland yet, so many twigs and small branches that have been brought down in the gales need tidying and there are weeds everywhere.

My first hellebore which is properly in flower.

It is now a month since I had any internet access and hopefully now it has been fixed, but what a month I have had! How many engineers does it take to get connected again? In my case it was 8 ! I commented last month that an engineer came and told me that I needed a new router, one duly came a few days later but I found I couldn’t connect it, which meant another engineer had to come out and see to it.

The chaenomeles by the back door is doing its usual December flowering, looking very pretty.

Six on Saturday. 22.11.2025.

First of all I must apologise for last week when I just managed to post my offering and made a couple of comments on other posts when all went pearshaped re the internet. Talk Talk said it was due to Storm Claudia but don’t know if that was true or not. Have had problems all week, an engineer came yesterday and she said a new router was needed and would come next week sometime but I hope my old one is working now! I had thought I wouldn’t have anything to show you this week but nature and the sprinkling of frost made sure that I had.

This photo was taken before the frost came this week, it is Iris unguicularis which is under the dining room window in a nice warm corner. It isn’t looking so happy now with the frost over the last couple of nights.

What a difference a week makes! Yesterday was non stop rain when my patio was flooded once more and we had rain on and off all week. I think last weekend was the peak of the leaves falling from the trees, you couldn’t see any blades of grass under the leaves, but the gardener soon blew them up and it looked tidy once more. Thank goodness all my photos were taken last week, the storm meant torrential rain yesterday.

Time for SOS for this week.

I have taken so many photos this week, I think the peak for autumnal colour has arrived here and now the leaves are all falling making colourful pools on the ground. I have managed to take a few long shots so they will be my six for this week, the other photos can wait for next week.

This is the view from my landing window, looking across my driveway and next doors front garden where they have a lovely red acer. Beyond is the field which is next to us and then the village beyond which has oaks and field maple as the main trees in the fields and hedgerows.

First of all I must start with an apology for my lack of comments for last week. For some reason I was having problems with WordPress, they kept asking for my password but then not accepting it, I hope it has sorted itself out now, not sure what I will do if it hasn’t!

This weeks six are all about the amazing colour from the leaves in the garden at the moment, some have reached their peak, others have just started turning, but some are now all on the ground thanks to storms and torrential rain.

This was Acer Westonbirt Spreading Star a week ago…….

Storm Benjamin blew through and caused leaves to drop on all my trees, so this week has seen me busy raking them up to make leaf mould. The gardener has also been a help, sweeping them up with the lawn mower, but there are plenty more for him when he next comes! The rest of the week has seen sunshine and showers, keeping the plants happy.

Time now for my six for this week………..

Hundreds of eating apples are now ready, but unfortunately you can’t even give them away, everyone has so many, boxes at gateways are still full .

There is no denying that autumn is with us with all the berries and colours that are in our gardens now. It seems that we will have bumper crops of berries, thanks to the good spring which brought us lots of flowers, so the birds and little mammals will be happy. Autumn tints are coming on nicely, making the garden and the surrounding countryside look very colourful. There was so much for me to photograph this week, probably enough for next week too, so lets get on with this week’s offering.

Acer Osakazuki’s colour isn’t quite there yet, but there is a lot of difference from last week.

My apologies for missing the last couple of SOSs, the first week was because I was in Bristol with my daughter, she had had a nasty accident falling downstairs in her house, but is now on the mend and doing really well, nothing broken, thank goodness, but all the tendons in both knees have been torn, which is bad enough. Last Saturday I wandered round the garden and really there wasn’t anything worth photographing that you hadn’t seen before. Autumn has now really taken hold, the leaves are starting to change colour and it is much cooler first thing in the morning. This week I did manage to find a few things to photograph, so on with SOS.

Mahonia nitans Cabaret in full autumn glory, I think the leaves are this wonderful colour because of the summer drought.
